We may collect personal data directly from you, from third parties (e.g. other law firms, courts, regulators), or publicly available sources.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide legal services to you or your organisation.
  • To manage our client relationship with you.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
  • To carry out identity and bankruptcy checks.
  • To manage payments, billing and accounting.
  • To send you legal updates, newsletters or event invitations (where you have consented or where we have a legitimate interest).
  • For the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

5. Lawful Bases for Processing

We rely on one or more of the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) – where processing is necessary to provide legal services.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

  • Service providers who support our business (e.g. IT providers, document storage).
  • Our professional advisers (e.g. accountants, insurers).
  • Other parties where required by law or with your consent.

All third parties are required to take appropriate security measures and to use your data only for specified purposes.

7. International Transfers

We generally store and process your data within the UK. If we need to transfer data outside the UK (e.g. cloud services or international legal matters), we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying any legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Retention periods vary depending on the nature of the matter, but client files are typically retained for 6 to 15 years after closure.

Our Will files are kept indefinitely.

9. Your Rights

10. Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

11. Cookies and Website Use

Our website uses essential functions and optional analytics and advertising technologies. We ask for your consent separately for Google Analytics (Analytics) and the Meta/Facebook Pixel (Marketing). Both are off until you choose to accept them. You can reject both or withdraw either choice through “Cookie settings” without affecting access to the website or enquiry forms.

With Analytics consent, Google receives technical and website-use information, including page visits, form starts, successful enquiry events and telephone/email-link clicks. Our analytics events do not contain your enquiry text, name or contact details. Google advertising signals and personalisation are disabled.

With Marketing consent, Meta receives eligible homepage PageView events, technical/network information and available browser or advertising identifiers for advertising measurement and audiences. Meta may associate these visits with your Facebook or Instagram account and use them for advertising. Our pixel does not run on legal-service or enquiry pages, does not send enquiry events or submitted details, and has automatic events and advanced matching disabled in this integration.

We rely on consent for this optional processing. Google and Meta may process data outside the UK, including in the United States, subject to their applicable transfer arrangements. Withdrawal stops future collection by the relevant integration; it does not erase information a provider has already received. Our preference cookie lasts for 180 days. Provider retention periods are separate.

See our Cookie information for the specific technologies, purposes, providers, durations, limitations and ways to change your choices, together with links to Google’s and Meta’s privacy policies. The contact details and rights in this notice also apply to website tracking.

Website tracking section updated 14 October 2026.
