Where there's a will, there's a way!
Your questions answered by James Hilton of Ralph & Co., NewquayQ: Why do I need a Will?
A: A Will is the only way you can be sure that your exact
wishes are carried out after your death.
Q: Who can act as an executor of my Will?
A: Anyone over eighteen can act as an executor( it is wise to
appoint two.) An executor can also be a beneficiary, so you can
appoint your husband or wife, or grown up children. Your solicitor
can act as one of your executors - this can take some of the burden
away from relatives.
Q: What about "home-made" Wills?
A: It is important for the correct wording to be used to
ensure that your wishes are carried out . Also, strict formalities
have to be observed in the signing of the Will . Having your Will
drawn up professionally is not expensive and will prevent disputes
later.
Q: If my husband and I both died suddenly, can we specify
who brings up our children?
A: Yes. If your chosen guardians are in agreement, you can
name them in your Will.
